di fara pizza: review

Miserable schlep: Q goes express to Kings Highway...take B local back to Ave. J...miss the J stop...walk back, but can't because of dead-end streets...eight block detour...finally get there. It's a dump.

We wait one and a half hours for our regular pie. When it's finally done...it's burnt! "Do you have ten more minutes?" At this point, why not? Old guy makes pies one at a time.

Pie finally done. Nowhere to eat it: card tables in the back are full, so we go to a street bench.

One bite and all is forgiven. This is possibly the best pizza on earth: salty, crusty, chewy, fresh basil, tangy tomato, perfectly melted fresh mozzarella. We devoured four slices each in about four minutes.

Word to the wise: put yourself down for two plain slices and two squares with mushroom, olives, and pepperoni...then take them as they come out of the oven. You'll get your food in less than thirty minutes!

The parade of characters and regulars is entertaining. Expect to be asked by the bearded guy, "Excuse me sir, are you Jewish?"

World class pizza in dump in the middle of nowhere. It's unique.

Grade: A+
