maison plisson

This new venture is a slick, shiny Dean & Delucaesque shopping and dining emporium on boulevard Beaumarchais (it's about 1/8 the size of Dean & Deluca). There are beautiful salumi, cheeses, fancy fruits and vegetables, a butcher shop featuring a butcher from Texas, an orange juice station, and downstairs pasta, wine, ice cream, candy, and chocolate. Everything is recherché, fancy and expensive. But no one in there is buying anything; they weren't even any lookers. The casual restaurant that is next door was doing quite well, but seemed overcrowded. It was hot indoors and even hotter outside: they forgot to think about providing some shade. Most of the outdoor tables were empty.
