This restaurant has such a wonderful location (facing a quiet park) and such a nice physical space (sidewalk tables under awnings and giant open windows) that they could probably get away with serving mediocre food. But the food I ordered was good, if simple.
The French regulars sat indoors until an outdoor table opened up (in retrospect, this is the thing to do). But there was plenty of peoplewatching to be done indoors.
The menu was interesting with several refreshing departures from the standard litany of meats. I had a burrata with tomatoes and excellent grilled gambas with an tasty salsa of capers, olives, tomatoes and green onions.
I had a nice Petit Chablis Louis Père et Fils 2014 and an excellent, ice-cold Brouilly 2013 by the same producers.
The beautiful friendly waitresses were an added bonus though the maître d' was a bit chilly and stuffy.
